TAIT BACKS SEMI-PRO RUGBY

Alan Tait thinks the formation of a league of domestic semi-professional is vital for Scotland to keep step with nations where rugby is big. The “Super Six”, which has been revealed by Scottish Rugby, replaces all-amateur BT Premiership that is currently with it since 2019.

The role of scouting for Scotland has been taken up by the Tait, who is 53 years old now and former Scotland Centre. He has taken this role with an objective of national restructuring that aims to enhance the development of players. (more…)

PRO 12 TO EXPAND TO 14 TEAMS

The Pro12 is set to be expanded to accommodate two South African sides from next season, the BBC reports.


The Cheetahs and Southern Kings would be joining the Pro 12 to make it Pro14 after exiting the Super Rugby.

The expansion is set to bring in at least £6 million annually from the South African Rugby Union (SARU) and TV money. The agreement has been reached for a six year deal so it would benefit the league. This is set to be formally announced soon once the legal requirements are met.

The amended Pro14 league would resume in September with two conferences of seven sides apiece. Each conference would have a South African side, an Italian side, a Scotland rugby team and two each from Wales and Ireland.

Several formats are being discussed for the fixtures. The teams are expected to play each other home and away in their conferences and then play derby games to make 21 matches. (more…)

Saracens Ready for the Premiership

If you are anxious to know when the games of Premiership League 2017-18 begin, the first games would start from the first weekend of September. On Friday 1st the Exeters would be defending their cup at the West Country derby. This would be held at Gloucester and this game would be aired on BT Sport.

The same evening Worcester would be facing Newcastle. During the first weekend there would be other games held as well. For instance, the Wasps would be starting their campaign at home grounds against Sale Sharks. This team had been losing finalists in the last season of the Premiership league last year.
