CHAMPS programs have three areas of focus: whole body, mind and spirit.
-
Congregational Care:
Our goal is to strengthen the efforts of churches to promote healthy aging in body,
mind and spirit. Using the faithful service of motivated individuals, demographic
assessment tools, programs, resources and collaborative efforts, Champs strives
to improve health within congregations.
-
Educational Programs:
Educational programs will be designed for delivery in congregations. Topics will
include, but are not limited to: health education, nutrition, fall and accidents
prevention, exercise and fitness, sleep patterns, depression, physical and mental
changes that come with aging, retirement planning, lifestyle adjustments, senior
living options, financing long term care, understanding insurance polices, taxes,
social security, health care costs, estate planning, end-of-life planning, and spirituality.
-
Support Services:
Support services will be developed to assist older adults within congregations,
enhance healthy lifestyles, encourage discussion and positive thinking, and facilitate
social interaction. Services may include health fairs and health screenings, tax
preparation, developing a network of support groups (Grief and Loss, Reminiscence,
Caregivers) and developing Resources.
